Ammar Abo Bakr
Lives and works in Egypt

The young Egyptian painter Abo Bakr em braces his country’s ancient and folk traditions of popular artistic expression. He employs in his street art practices from pop art, naive and folk art, sacred art, muralism and graffiti. His knowledge about Ancient Egypt acquired as a draftsman working with esteemed egyptologists influences many of the motifs in his work. He has become most renowned for his Mohamed Mahmoud Street murals just off Tahrir Square (Cairo) painted during the Revolution. Since then he has painted murals worldwide, travelling and spreading his art in Germany, Libya, Italy, France, Sweden, Switzerland and many more places.
